Barcode Battle
Effective as of 2026-08-20
This privacy policy applies to the Barcode Battle app (hereby referred to as the "Application") for mobile devices, created by Melodeon (hereby referred to as the "Service Provider") as a free service. The Application is a game in which scanning a barcode or QR code generates a unique hero that you then use in battle. It is provided for use "AS IS".
Core gameplay runs on your device. The Application does, however, use the device camera, an online leaderboard, and integrated third-party services for advertising, analytics and stability reporting, which collect certain information. Each is described below.
Through those third-party SDKs, information including your Android Advertising ID, device identifiers and general device and app information (such as device model, operating system version and app version) may be collected.
The Application uses Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated usage and event data, Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash and error reports, and Firebase Remote Config to adjust settings without an app update. Advertising is served through Google AdMob, which uses Unity Ads as a mediation partner.
The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data or provide features.
The Application requests permission to use your device's camera for one purpose: reading barcodes and QR codes in order to generate a hero. The camera preview is analysed on your device by Google's ML Kit barcode scanner, which runs entirely offline.
No photograph or video is recorded, saved or transmitted. Only the decoded value of the scanned code is used, and it is used locally to generate the hero's statistics. You may deny or revoke the camera permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the Application continues to work, but scanning will be unavailable.
If you submit a boss result to the optional online leaderboard, the display name you chose in settings, an anonymous identifier (not linked to your Google account, email address or real identity) and the result itself are stored in the Service Provider's Google Firebase project and shown publicly to other players. Nothing is submitted unless you choose to submit it, and entries are deleted automatically when the boss board expires.
Because the board is public, please do not use your real name as a display name.
The Application offers an optional one-time purchase to remove advertising, processed through Google Play Billing. Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play; the Service Provider never receives or stores your payment information.
The Application can send optional daily reminders about your rank and the boss reset. They are scheduled locally on your device and can be turned off at any time in the Application's settings or in your device's notification settings.
The Application uses the third-party services listed below, which may collect information used to identify you. Links to their privacy policies:
The Service Provider shares data with third parties only through the official SDKs listed above, which are used to deliver advertisements, measure app usage, report crashes, host the leaderboard and process the optional purchase. No other tracking tools or data-sharing arrangements are implemented, and the Service Provider does not sell your data.
The Application does not integrate Google Play Games Services, and does not link to or read from a Google Play Games profile.
Where required by law — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — the Application shows a consent message on first launch using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before any personalized advertising data is collected. You choose there whether advertising partners may use your data for personalized ads.
You can reopen that choice at any time from the Application's settings screen, where a privacy options entry is shown to users in the regions the consent form applies to. Outside those regions the entry is hidden because no consent form applies.
You can stop all use of the Application at any time by uninstalling it, using the standard uninstall process available on your device or through the app marketplace. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data described above.
You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier at any time from your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), independently of the in-app consent choice above.
Submitting a score to the online leaderboard is optional; if you do not submit a result, no leaderboard data is stored for you. You can also revoke the camera permission in your device settings at any time.
Your hero collection, game saves and settings remain on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the Application.
Leaderboard entries are deleted automatically when their boss board expires.
Information processed by the other third-party services listed above is retained and deleted according to their own privacy policies.
The Application is a scanning and battling game suitable for a general audience. Because it displays advertising and offers a public leaderboard, its target audience is set to users aged 13 and older. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and it will be promptly addressed.
Leaderboard data is held in Google Cloud Firestore, protected by Google's infrastructure and by access rules, and contains no contact details, payment information or location. All other data remains on your device, under your own device's security controls.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify users of any changes by updating this page, and the effective date at the top will change accordingly. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
By using the Application, you consent to this Privacy Policy as amended from time to time.
If you have any questions or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, or wish to make a request regarding your data, contact the developer directly through the official Google Play Store developer contact page for Melodeon.
